Bag Size Feasibility
Compatible formats: gusset determines the available height range.
How the flat handle gets onto the bag
A flat handle paper bag machine runs two paper streams, not one. The bag body arrives as a printed sheet at 200 to 300 g. The mouth patch, which is the reinforcing strip the handle actually anchors to, is fed separately at 180 to 300 g. The ZW-A11 bonds and folds both inline, so a bag leaves the machine with the flat rope already anchored inside the mouth and no second pass.
Handle length is set between 420 and 600 mm. Read against a bag height of 200 to 420 mm, that is the number that fixes the drop: the distance between the handle and the top edge, which decides whether the bag hangs from a forearm or is carried in the hand.
The figure most buyers check last is sheet size. The ZW-A11 takes sheets from 560 to 1040 mm long and 310 to 680 mm wide. Because the machine is sheet fed, your printer’s sheet format decides feasibility before your bag drawing does. If the press cannot deliver a sheet inside that window, no bag size on the spec sheet is reachable.
Two limits are worth knowing before you specify a machine, and both are properties of this build rather than of the bag:
- Gusset buys width and costs height. The size matrix above is not decorative. At an 80 mm gusset the machine covers 200 to 430 mm of bag height. At 200 mm that window closes to 240 to 370 mm. Deep gussets and tall bags pull against each other, so the two numbers have to be chosen together.
- Board weight is where roll fed lines stop. Roll fed flat handle paper bag machines publish paper ranges of roughly 80 to 140 g/m². The ZW-A11 starts at 200 g and the mouth patch at 180 g. If your bag is specified on 250 g art board, the machine class is settled for you before the handle style is. The full weight-by-machine table is in what gsm kraft paper for paper bags.
If you are still choosing between handle styles, we compare the two routes on the machine side in twisted handle paper bag machine vs flat handle.
